Google Hotels shows every channel's price for a property in one place - which makes it the surface every rate-shopping team wants programmatic access to. These answers cover what Google's official hotel APIs do and don't offer, and how the data is actually obtained.
Google's hotel APIs - Hotel Ads and its price feeds - are for Google's hotel advertising partners, not a general developer API for reading hotel prices. There is no public API that returns the prices shown on Google Hotels.
Partners push their own prices in; nothing official lets you read the market's prices out.
No official one at any price, so no free one either. Third-party options exist with free tiers; judge them on coverage of the OTAs shown per property, freshness and volume limits.
For production hotel-rate monitoring, the economics usually come down to cost per usable price point, not the headline free tier.
Through collected public data: for a property and stay date, Google Hotels shows the prices each OTA and the hotel's own site offer - a provider collects that comparison and returns it structured.
It is the fastest way to see a property's price across channels in one query, which is why rate-shopping workflows lean on it.
Per property and stay: the list of channels showing prices, each channel's rate, room descriptions where shown, taxes-and-fees treatment, and the hotel's direct rate when present.
That cross-channel view per property is the core value - it is rate parity evidence straight from the surface guests use.
Timing and caching - Google shows the price the partner last fed or the feed's refresh allows, and the OTA's live page may have moved since. Taxes-and-fees display settings also differ.
For parity work, treat Google Hotels as one reading and confirm disputes against the channel's live page.
Google scores price accuracy - the match between the price you feed and what the user finds after clicking - and the score affects your participation and auction performance. Mismatches from taxes, fees and missing discounts are the common causes.
If you participate in Hotel Ads, monitoring your own displayed prices is part of operating the channel.
The pages are publicly visible, and Google's terms restrict automated access - the same tension as any major platform. Use a provider that handles collection responsibly and take legal advice for your situation.
This is general information, not legal advice.
Coverage of the channels shown per property in your markets, final-price handling (taxes and fees), freshness with timestamps, property matching quality, and pricing that works at your check volume.
Test on your own properties and dates - coverage differs sharply by market.
